A HOW-TO-BUILD DESIGN

Intrepid: AN AUXILIARY CRUISING SLOOP DESIGNED FOR THE RUDDER

Intrepid was designed to appeal to the many cruising men who desired a fairly small boat that would be an able comfortable ship, suitable for any normal cruising yet one which could make the big long cruise when that day came.

Intrepid boat sketchWhile Intrepid was quite normal in many respects, she was extremely unusual in that she could be built in any one of a variety of methods, viz., primarily welded steel but equally well with plywood, normal wood or even aluminum, depending on the ability or preference of the owner.

The cabin arrangement shown was for basic guidance only, since it was impossible for two people ever to have the same requirements. However, since the layout was tied in with the construction to a very close degree, it was distinctly inadvisable to make any changes that would affect the ship's structure.

The design of Intrepid was developed to be a good comfortable cruiser having berths for three to five persons, with ample stowage space, and yet be reasonably fast and able.
